 With high-quality digital cameras available at low cost to everyone, amateur photos are improving to the point where they can be hard to distinguish from professional pictures. This trend continues to accelerate with ever-smarter in-camera processors that automatically correct many flaws the amateur photographer may introduce while taking the picture.
While some pro photographers may lament this development - especially if it has reduced their income - at Georges Merx Photography, we believe that this is a positive development: it returns the photos of photographic excellence back to content, reducing the predominant importance of technique and technology in favor of artistic excellence. No customer today should accept photographs that are less than excellent.
In addition, the convergence of photography and graphic art via such software programs as Adobe© Photoshop™ has created fantastic new opportunities to create images beyond the reality of what the lens captured. While some traditional purists may frown on this approach, a true artist uses the tools as his|her disposal without self-imposed artificial constraints: the ends here justify the means.

 There are many forms of photography, but portrait photography is hard to beat, because humans love looking at other humans. San Diego's best portrait photographer, Georges Merx Photography offers professional portrait photography on-site: at your house, place of work, hotel, or event venue. For studio services, we require two-week notice. (The studio service fee is $200.00 in addition to the regular session and print charges.)
A great portrait does not just offer perfect lighting, a pretty smile, good make-up, and straight posture: it requires what we like to call the WOW-Effect. When you look at a great portrait, your lips should automatically form the word "WOW" ...
It helps to have a compelling model (like beautiful Mija at right), but it is our conviction - and experience - that every human face is beautiful and interesting in its own way: it is our job to capture that unique attraction.
